Welcome to Appalachian Pastoral Seminary

We are excited to announce a unique, one of a kind education opportunity for prospective pastors beginning in 2021. This opportunity will train potential pastors to step into leadership roles of independent Baptist churches successfully. The four-year program is a unique mentorship that focuses on the experiential duties of a pastor as a friend, administrator, preacher, and spiritual leader of a flock of born-again believers. The training experience will combine classroom training, individual development, and hands-on ministerial work

Who Is This For?

2 Timothy 2:2

And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

We are seeking to train men who God has called to lead His churches as pastors (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:1-9). We will screen and select no more than four men per class. The men chosen will actively participate in the real-life workings of a church throughout the program. There will be a strong emphasis on personal development, doctrinal preaching, and ministry to others. Upon graduation, we will aid in your placement into a permanent church ministry.

Where Are We Located

The school will be at Berea Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Michael Napier, DBS, Ph.D. Dr. Napier has two earned doctorates, and over 25 years of ministry experience, helping train men for the ministry. His vision is to train doctrinally sound, faithful, and God called men, who will develop friendships during their time at Appalachian Pastoral Seminary to support each other throughout their ministries.

We are not seeking men with supposed talent, skill, or a perceived gift; instead, we are looking for those God has chosen for His work and willing to faithfully prepare to fulfill their calling. If you have questions about whether this is for you, let’s talk!

1 Corinthians 1:26-28

For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: 27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; 28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
